You can buy Lipton Ice Tea in different packaging such as recycled PET-bottles and aluminum cans. Whether you’re on the go or like to enjoy some refreshing Ice Tea in the comfort of your home, we got you covered with the right packaging and size to fit your taste.
We know how important sustainability is to our planet, which is why we've taken the following steps to improve our packaging. As of now 97% of Lipton Ice Tea products are fully recyclable (where facilities exist), and we already use 100% recycled plastic bottles in 13 countries.
Some Lipton Ice Tea products come in a 100% recyclable aluminum can. We have also reduced the amount of plastic needed to manufacture our bottles by switching from 100% virgin PET bottles to 100% recycled plastic bottles in 13 countries.
Yes! The materials we use for our bottle, cap and label are designed to be fully recyclable, where facilities exist! The biggest challenge now is to ensure that our (and other) plastic bottles are collected, so that where possible they can serve as a new material.
100%! Sustainability is an important issue for us, and responsible sourcing of tea is an important issue for the industry.
Here are some ways in which responsible sourcing of tea is done in Sri Lanka – where we source the majority of our tea:
Certification programs: The country has several certification programs, such as Rainforest Alliance, Fairtrade, and Ethical Tea Partnership, that set standards for social, environmental, and economic sustainability. Tea producers can become certified by meeting these standards and are then allowed to use certification labels on their products.
Sustainable farming practices: Sri Lanka's tea industry is moving towards more sustainable farming practices, including reducing the use of agrochemicals, conserving soil and water, and promoting biodiversity. Some tea plantations have adopted organic farming practices, which can improve soil health and protect the environment.
Worker welfare: The industry is committed to improving the welfare of workers, including fair pay, safe working conditions, and access to healthcare and education. Many tea producers in Sri Lanka provide housing and other benefits to their workers.
Traceability: Some tea companies in Sri Lanka are implementing traceability programs, which track tea from the plantation to the final product. This can help ensure that the tea is sourced responsibly and sustainably.
Industry associations: The Sri Lanka Tea Board and the Ceylon Tea Traders Association are industry associations that work to promote responsible sourcing and sustainability in the tea industry. They provide training and support to tea producers and promote best practices in the industry.
Overall, responsible sourcing of tea in Sri Lanka involves a combination of certification programs, sustainable farming practices, worker welfare, traceability, and industry associations. These efforts help ensure that Sri Lankan tea is produced in a way that is socially responsible, environmentally sustainable, and economically viable You can find more information on that here.
Lipton iced teas use tea extracts, made with teas sourced from numerous plantations located in different countries renowned for tea production, such as Sri Lanka, India, Kenya, and China.
